Adding another social site to your marketing might seem a little overwhelming, so here are a few tips to get started with Pinterest for your business.
Identify Your Brand
Just like every other social network, it’s important you fill out your profile completely. Add your logo to your profile, include a verified link to your website, include a vanity URL, and provide a profile description. Pinning on Pinterest is incredibly easy. But, if you really want to capture leads, generate interest in what you are pinning and engage your audience, it’s important to use as much white space as you can. Explain what the pin is for, how it’s beneficial to the consumer, and of course where they can find that product.

Infographics are popular, for about the same reason that Pinterest is popular. People love images! They love a visual format that allows them to see an item or a place. If you want an easy way to capture leads, infographics is an option to consider. Your graphic designer can create these for you, or use a website where you can make your own. If your business has created an ebook or a white paper, make sure to include the image on your Pinterest account. Link back to the ebook or white paper to generate some new leads. Make sure your ebook or white paper pin has its own Call To Action, as well as a landing page.

Hashtags are a great way to create search-friendly content. They allow other Pinners to quickly and easily find your Pins and then add them to their own boards (repin) or visit the website. Thankfully, Pinterest allows you to use hashtags on every single post you pin. If you use hashtags on Facebook and Twitter, make sure you use the same hashtag on Pinterest for continuity.
Follow Your Target Pinners
Pinterest also has a follow option. It’s in your best interest to find Pinners that are interested in what you’re promoting. For example, if you sell clothes, look for Pinners who pin a lot of clothing items. If you are a restaurant, follow Pinners interested in food items, recipes, kitchen gadgets, etc. All of this can be done using the search option on the website.
Take Advantage Of Advertising
Like with Facebook and Twitter, Pinterest allows Business Accounts to buy ads. Pinterest offers 5 different ways to purchase advertising; Awareness Campaigns, Engagement Campaigns, Traffic Campaigns and Promoted Pin Campaigns. The Promoted App Pin Campaign is great if you have an app you want people to download and install.
Each ad campaign has its advantages, so look into each one to find the one best suited for your business and your needs. You can also choose to track your highest rated pin performer and promote those pins as well. Pinterest Ads are easy to set up and very budget friendly.
Anyone can have an account on Pinterest, but you’re a business and promoting products or services on Pinterest, it’s in your best interest to create a business account. A business account allows you to create a more intricate profile with an URL, logo as your profile picture, and a vanity URL.
A business account will also allow you to get more complex and complete stats, where a personal profile will not. You can see how many re-pins you get per each day/week/month, who clicked on the pins, the number of clicks to your website, average daily impressions, how many people visited your business profile on Pinterest and more.
These stats will help you to build better boards and pins in the future because you can clearly see what images intrigued and engaged people, and which did not.
Overall, when done right and with a customer audience that already spends time on Pinterest, the social network can be a key force in driving traffic to your website and ultimately from there capturing leads you can nurture via email campaigns.
