19 Quickest Ways How to Get 60.2% More Traffic to Your Blog

For many of us, getting more eyeballs is a major goal. After all, writing is hard work, and it’s always great to have those efforts pay off in a big way.

I have increased traffic to my blog by 60.2% for the period January 1 to November 30 of this year compared to the previous year. Let me share with you the steps I took to do this so that you can increase your blog traffic too.

60.2% might not seem like a big number, but when you already have a lot of traffic, being able to attract several hundreds of thousands or millions of new visitors to your site is HUGE! My blog already got a lot of traffic, so this gives you an idea of how successful I’ve been.

Some of my tricks to increase blog traffic will be more effective than others but try to implement as many as possible so that you don’t leave any opportunity untouched. As always, choosing the right techniques is an important part of how to get traffic to your blog successfully. There’s a fine line between missed opportunities and being overwhelmed.

Let’s start with the technical pieces you need in place before you even revise how you publish content. These changes help make your blog easier to read from any type of device, and help handle the increased traffic before it even begins.

1. Design Your Website to Be Mobile First

Google realizes there are more mobile devices accessing the Internet these days, and that trend will only increase. When you design your website to be adaptable to mobile, you will be rewarded, on average, with higher search engine rankings than those who haven’t adapted. Therefore, this change helps to increase your blog traffic. That’s why I turned off popups and other distractions from my mobile display, which immediately boosted my search engine rankings. As an added plus, you won’t annoy visitors with all the click throughs.

2. Make Sure You Have Fast Web Hosting

This is a no-brainer. When your web hosting is fast, it’s easier for your visitors to navigate the blog. In addition, better hosting means that more traffic can visit your site without slowing it down. Moving to BigScoots gave me a noticeable boost in speed. 3. Use a Caching Plugin Like WP Rocket

There are other solutions out there, but for WordPress, I believe WP Rocket is the one plugin that can have the biggest impact on performance. As a plugin, it helps you serve content faster and impacting your search engine rankings in a positive way. Remember, faster websites automatically fare better on Google. If this plugin isn’t compatible with the rest of your stack, find something similar.

4. Enable Push Notifications for Your Site

Another important part of how to get more traffic to your blog is push notifications. Remember, push notifications are the little icons that pop up in the top bar of your smartphone. If you enable push notifications, then people who request the notices will know when you publish something new. Use a WordPress plugin to do this. Set it and forget it and watch your traffic grow!

5. Create Lead Magnets to Build Your Email List

For example, I offer a sample of my book The Age of Influence in return for an email subscription. Depending on your specialty, any high-value piece of content can be used for email lead magnets. 7. You Need the Blogging Mindset

Here’s the hard truth: if you want blog traffic, you need to create the type of content that people are looking for. Stop blogging about what interests you. It’s all about search engines. If you want to attract more visitors, you need to blog about things people search for. Take a data-driven approach.

8. Do Keyword Research to Plan on Becoming an Authority in Your Niche

Based on this data-driven approach, do research to understand what people look for in your niche. Then, create content for all related topics to become the authoritative entity. Here, the key is to answer people’s questions in the best way possible. That’s one of the best answers of how to get more traffic to your blog.

9. Setup an Editorial Calendar and Commit to a Frequency

I used to try to publish once or twice a week. Since Coronavirus it is now 3 to 4 times a week consistently. If there are enough keywords that you haven’t blogged about available, blog more frequently. More frequent blogging will help you build your library of content all the faster and thereby increase your blog traffic sooner.

10. Create. Awesome. (and Deep) Content.

Your content should be resourceful and ideally evergreen. I highly recommend you blog longer rather than shorter as there are more advantages to making your content longer rather than shorter. For example, you can answer someone’s questions more thoroughly and better given enough post length. In turn, people are likely to stay on your page longer, increasing domain credibility.

11. Make your content easy to read by using plenty of headings (H2/3/4), bullets, and numbered lists.

Ensure that your content is easier for people to read, and to find what they need to know. In particular, people can jump to the most important parts of your article. This helps people and search engines better understand your content.

12. Don’t Make Your Headlines an Afterthought

You are competing in search results or social media newsfeeds, so your headline will make or break your website traffic. Think about it this way: would you go for the article with a boring headline, or a punchy one? In the case of business blogs, the headline can be attention grabbing in different ways than more personal ones.

I won’t say that 80% of increasing traffic to your blog posts comes after you hit publish, but your work is definitely not done yet if you really want more web visitors. So, part of knowing how to get more traffic to your blog is continuing to work on your blog content even after it’s posted.

If Google doesn’t see you link internally to your own content, they might take it for granted. If they see lots of links to certain content, they may think it is more important. At the same time, make sure that what you link between is related and relevant to the topic of each blog post. Links should never be distracting.

15. Republish your old content regularly when it makes sense to do so and there is a lot to update

Blog content is not published once and done. It is brand equity, and you should be constantly revising and republishing it when necessary. It’s especially important after you’ve already built up your own library of content, to refresh your search engine rankings – and blog traffic. Here, the key is to ensure that each blog post update is useful, rather than spammy. This way, people will have an incentive to check out your revised article.

16. Regularly share your evergreen content on social media, not just your new content

 You should be sharing content on social media every day, and your content should be relevant enough to share on social media whether it was written today or last year. I’ve written a lot about evergreen content. But briefly, evergreen content is something that doesn’t get old. Rather, it remains relevant over time. Well-researched and written blog posts perform best of all.

17. Optimize your Meta-Titles and Descriptions!

Analyze your Google Search Console or use tools like ClickFlow to help you do A/B testing. This technique helps you to get more clicks from your precious Google search impressions. Remember, Google search is a constant battle for the first page. And in most cases, being on the first page is the only way to get significant traffic from search. 18. Embrace Guest Bloggers – Strategically

As your blog builds more influence, many bloggers will contact you wanting to submit a guest post. If they have expertise in your industry and are willing to help you blog on topics in your editorial calendar, feel free to invite them to blog to help accelerate the creation of your library of content. However, you must be sure to maintain the quality of your website by aggressively editing their work so that what you publish is good if not better than your own work. Otherwise, people might quit paying attention to your blog: who wants to read crappy content? For that reason, you should be selective about what you post.

Guest blogging should not be a one-way street. Build backlinks to your own blog to increase search engine rankings by blogging on other relevant sites in your industry. In addition, by guest posting you’ll help the host build their website. Blogging is one of the areas where competing content creators can help one another without losing their own followers to the competition.

If there’s one thing everyone can agree on about blogging, it’s that planning, writing, and publishing can take time. For that reason, everyone wants to maximize the ROI for their efforts. Knowing how to get more traffic to your blog is the best way to ensure success.
