15 YouTube Video Summarizer Tools to Check Out
Video summaries are the fastest way to consume long-form video content. Fortunately, there are tools that exist that can make it even faster! Enter the YouTube video summarizer tool, platforms which pinpoint the most important talking points within a piece of video content and summarize it in a brief text. Whether you’re a content creator, marketer, or casual user, this type of software can save you lots of time, especially when creating summaries of your video for social media or email newsletters or just doing old-fashioned content or competitor research.
For those not familiar with this new type of software, let me explain the concept and how these tools actually work. After that, I’ll analyze 15 powerful YouTube video summarizers and their features so that you can find the one best for you.
What is a YouTube Video Summarizer Tool?
These platforms use artificial intelligence and language models to summarize YouTube content. They can analyze hours and hours of video content and turn it into short, actionable text excerpts. Most of these platforms have YouTube integration, allowing you to read the text while the video runs in the background.
So, instead of wasting your time with a lengthy 20-minute video transcript, you can get a quick 2-minute video summary. Furthermore, as the summary comes in a textual form, you can copy-paste it and repurpose it for your blog and other content marketing initiatives.
What are the Benefits of Using Such a Tool?
The main purpose of using a summarizer is to turn a lengthy video into a short text. That way, you can get key takeaways without having to spend all this time stuck on YouTube.
From a content marketing perspective, this makes it easier for you to promote your videos if you are stuck for words. As such, these generated summaries could be used as an integral part of your digital marketing strategy.
Just about any content creator can benefit from a YouTube video summarizer. They’re especially great for tackling long, repetitive tasks. However, they’re also incredible for researchers and casual users who want to learn more about a particular topic without wasting time on the entire video.
Among others, video summarizer tools are excellent for people with disabilities. If you’re deaf or have a hearing impairment, these concise summaries can help you understand the meaning behind the content. They can also help dyslexic users who might struggle reading YouTube subtitles and need to take things at their own pace.
The 15 Best YouTube Video Summarizer Tools
Here are 15 best programs that will help you create short summaries of videos:
1. Pictory

Pictory is a video marketing toolkit that you can use for creating and editing visual content. Aside from YouTube, you can use this tool to add captions to various other social media posts.
Upon transcription generation, you can easily modify sentences and paragraphs with a click of a button. Delete parts of the summary, highlight sections, and generate videos based on the text input. On top of that, Pictory also allows you to remove filler words and silences from your content.
Video generation is especially neat. You can mark specific parts of the text to create a mish-mash video from these chapters and shots. All of these advanced features make Pictory a great addition to your marketing tool arsenal!
2. WordTune

WordTune is a fantastic software that you can use to alter your YouTube transcripts. Although the software doesn’t auto-generate summaries, you can create briefs during post-editing once you grab the transcript from YouTube.
Specifically, WordTune allows you to change the tone and length of various texts. You can completely rewrite generated transcripts and make them sound more formal or casual. As if that wasn’t enough, you can shorten them or expand them. So, not only can the tool create summaries, but you can also use it to alter text in several other ways.
3. Fireflies.ai

One of the best video summary tools on the market, Fireflies.AI, is a fantastic choice for large marketing companies. The thing that caught me off-guard was the enormous number of integrations. You can combine Fireflies.AI with popular software such as Zoom, Zapier, Google Meet, Google Drive, and a few others.
But there’s more! You can also use Fireflies.AI during audio and video recording and automatically generate transcripts. In other words, you don’t have to access YouTube to get summaries, which can significantly reduce your post-production editing. On top of that, you can also perform a few other cool tweaks to the excerpts.
4. Koala

Koala AI is a platform that can save you valuable time by generating engaging content for your website and social media. With the power of natural language processing, this software serves as an article creator and virtual assistant. All pieces produced this way will be 100% optimized for search engines.
The Koala summary generator works within your browser and provides results in just a few seconds. After copying your video link, the online tool will generate an actionable overview in textual form. The software is based on ChatGPT capabilities, and you can ask its assistant further questions about the video.
5. HIX.ai

HIX AI compiles numerous, simple artificial intelligence tools that you can access from the same page. Whether you need a paraphrasing tool, an article rewriter, or a Shopify product description generator, you’ll find it on this website.
The program gives you the option to copy links, paste text, or upload files. You can also choose to have your output in normal text or bullet points. If you’re a foreign speaker, you’ll be happy to hear that HIX AI supports several global languages.

The summaries are rather short and lack other core functionalities you might find in other programs. There’s also a limit to how many words you can summarize with the free plan, which is deflating.
6. Notta

Like many other entries on this list, Notta is an artificial intelligence platform that offers a plethora of AI tools to its users. Its YouTube summarizer is quite impressive, allowing you to choose the output language. Whether it’s English, French, or Chinese video, this AI-powered tool can help you out.
Besides an accurate summary, the software also creates a list of highlights. On top of that, Notta shows the video to the right with a verbatim transcript below it. You can use timestamps from the highlight section to navigate the content and find the exact sentence that the narrator is talking about.
Overall, it is a very functional program that also comes with a paid version.

7. TinyWow

TinyWow is a website that features numerous AI tools. Its summarizer is one of the worst programs in this category (I especially hate the presentation). To make matters worse, you need to fill a Captcha to run your task.
Basically, you get an output that is 150 to 200 words long, which is much longer than other programs on this list provide. You can copy or download the text, but that’s about that. TinyWow doesn’t offer any standout feature or anything else that would separate it from other entries on this list.
8. aiktp

Aiktp is a somewhat wonky website that offers several summarizer tools. Besides a YouTube assistant, the platform also features a document and text summarizer as well as a paraphrase program.
While testing the tool, I wasn’t particularly satisfied with the results. The tool generates a full transcript, which is nice. There’s also a clean summary that comes with bullets, making it easy to read. Still, I had a feeling feeling that the program could do a better job explaining everything that’s happening on the screen.

9. Recall

Recall is an AI tool that lets you quickly summarize YouTube videos and save the summaries into your personal knowledge base. Not only does it categorize your summaries, but it also links them with related content you’ve saved before, uncovering connections and bringing up relevant past content just when you need it.
Besides the knowledge base, what really stood out with Recall is that it works on all types of content including blog posts, PDFs and news articles.
10. HyperWrite

With this powerful platform, you can execute numerous AI tasks. HyperWrite website offers its users an editor, a rewriter, an essay generator, and various other writing and editing programs.
When it comes to YouTube summarizer, the software creates a short explanation of the video. You can check the content against other web sources and academic papers. There’s also a nifty chat assistant on the bottom that can provide additional insights.
My main issue with this valuable tool is that you have to log into your Google account. This seems a bit excessive, especially if we consider that there are better tools than HyperWrite that don’t require this step.

11. Monica

With this tool, you can easily summarize videos on YouTube and repurpose the text for various channels and formats. Perhaps the best thing about this software is that it integrates with the social media platform, so you can use it immediately upon watching content. Besides summaries, Monica also generates highlights with timestamps.
Another cool thing about this program is that you can choose the output language. Given there’s a Chrome extension at your disposal, you can easily access it at any time. Run a virtual assistant to find answers to any questions you might have regarding the content.
The only drawback about the software is that you have to install it and log into your Google account.
12. Eightify

Eightify is another GPT-3 powered video summarizer. Like the previously mentioned software, this nifty tool uses the latest AI-processing technology to break down videos into textual content. Right now, Eightify.app is completely free, and you can snatch it from the Google web store.
The add-on works as a Chrome extension and works exclusively on the YouTube platform. Once you install it on your device, all you gotta do is press the “Summarize” button while watching a video to extrapolate a text. The software briefly summarizes each chapter in a sentence or two. Eightify.app supports several major languages.

13. Merlin

Similar to Monica, Merlin comes with a browser extension. It integrates with your YouTube, so you can utilize it at any time, without limits.
The software does quite a good job with its outputs. At the top, you’ll get a short summary of your video in a few sentences. Below the summary is a shortened transcript with timestamps. You can click on the time marks to jump immediately to the part of the video in question.
My favorite thing about this tool is that you can click on sentences within the transcript to expand them. That way, you’ll get a few more information about a certain part of the clip.
14. Sider

Sider might be one of the best tools on this list. The company’s flagship product, the AI generator, allows you to choose between several technologies, including GPT3.5, GPT4, Bard, Claude Instant, and Claude 2. Even better, you can generate several outputs simultaneously by using different technologies.
As for the summary generator, the tool integrates with the YouTube platform. While running the video, the text will appear on the right-hand side. Similar to a few other entries, you’ll also get timestamps that help you jump to different sections.

15. Rec Cloud

This nifty tool provides a brief summary of YouTube content. It also gives you the full transcript of the video as well as a subtitle breakdown. If you don’t like the results, you can regenerate them, or you can use the tool’s assistant to ask relevant questions.
The thing I don’t like about this tool is its speed. The software is noticeably slower than its counterparts, which can be quite annoying. Then again, I do love the fact that Rec Cloud provides several output formats.
Curious as to what are my fave AI marketing tools?
Conclusion
YouTube video summary tools are a brand-new category of products that will likely change the landscape of digital marketing. Aside from business experts and marketers, this type of software is also fantastic for researchers and people with disabilities. In fact, these tools are so useful that even casual users can benefit from them.
Most of these platforms have unique features that can sway your purchasing decision. So, before committing to one of these tools, I suggest you take your time exploring the details of all of the available options and make sure your questions get answered.
