As website owners, one of our most important tasks is ensuring that we have adequate SEO. After all, SEO is how our site is found by people that are interested in our niche. In addition, getting a first-page placement at least some of the time drives traffic like nothing else. There’s only so far that advertising your site using PPC or even distributing content through social media can go. However, SEO is generally difficult because of changing algorithms and constant competition. Most websites need tools to navigate the world of SEO, specifically a Google SEO checker, or often referred to as a website SEO checker.
If you are already invested in one of the SEO tools that I have recommended in the past, you should have all that you need to perform any SEO audit or rank checking that your heart desires. If, on the other hand, you have not invested in an SEO tool, want to check out other SEO tools, or just prefer a simple and quick way to get some SEO information about a particular website, a Google SEO Checker can help.

What is a Google SEO Checker?
Simply put, a Google SEO checker is a free tool that gives you advice as to how to improve your SEO or check the SEO of another website. And because you can use these checkers to analyze sites you don’t own, they are valuable tools for competitive analysis. While most marketing tools help you do this, an SEO checker will give different insights than the typical marketing tech stack.
One thing about these tools is that, in most cases, the developers don’t charge to buy or use them. They are usually free because either they are using the tool for pre-sales to upsell you on a paid subscription or they are trying to sell you a related service (SEO agency, web hosting, etc.). In other words, it’s a form of content marketing. Some of these tools will give you a glimpse of what’s possible with their paid products, while others will simply encourage you to reach out for an SEO overhaul.
Google SEO Checker Tools from Google
Since Google is arguably the king of search in most countries, no discussion of SEO checkers is relevant without Google. Luckily, Google helps to defend its market leadership with free checker tools. Each of these is designed to help site owners perform well on search, and level the playing field between large and small sites.
One factor that heavily influences SEO performance is page speed. As the thinking goes, people are less likely to leave your page if it doesn’t load quickly. And, since bounce rates influence your overall SERP position, it’s critical to encourage visitors to stay for a while.
But how does Page Speed Insights perform? All you have to do is input your URL and choose between mobile and desktop results. They’ll tell you how fast the page loads, perform basic diagnostics and give you some advanced opportunities. These insights are delivered as red, yellow, or green based on how the metric performs in comparison to ideals and competitors. You’ll also get a global performance score.
One of the simpler Google SEO checkers, the mobile-friendly test tells you whether or not your site is mobile-friendly. It also tells you why or why not. For instance, they said that my site has design elements too close together and that the text is too small. I can improve this by making a mobile-friendly version of my site, or by correcting the problems in the main one.
Google SEO Checker Tools from Leading SEO Tools
Of course, Google is far from the only company interested in SEO. Everyone wants to perform well on Google, so many web companies have developed a Google SEO checker. While one of these might be enough to get started, using more than one tool can help gather additional information that the first one might have missed. This is especially true if you want to do a major overhaul or are trying to figure out why your site views are diminishing or not growing at the rate you’ve planned.
