If you have been following me for awhile now, you will be very familiar with my thoughts and processes of dominating your niche on Facebook.
Using Facebook Live for your business and messenger bots is the number 1 strategy for 2018 and beyond.
Why?
Well! that’s a great question.
Because Facebook live promotes 6 x more engagement than recorded videos. With the new update of the Facebook algorithm on the 11th January, we need more engagement to get any sort of organic reach. Even if that is only a few percent improvement. Last month I wrote about the recent changes in Facebook and what you can do for your business page.
Doing business today with social media is a necessity. Yes, the algorithms have changed. Every time you get used to using a platform it changes. It can be time confusing and it can be frustrating. Answer this question for me though?
With all that negative energy around these marketing platforms, answer this question for me?
Where can you place your business in front of millions of potential clients for little or no advertisings cost?
Ahha… that’s what I thought! Only online using social media platforms. This is the part that I really want to say
“Suck it up princess”, we have the world at our fingertips. We really do! When Facebook live launched their live streaming platform we were given the golden goose, the live streams are our golden eggs.
(Can you tell that I have an 18-month-old granddaughter) I do often wake up with the tunes of wiggles in my head.
The only difference between your business and Oprah Winfrey is that she had a show. Now it’s your turn to Showcase your business online.
I have been interviewing businesses in my local area that are a little too shy to go it alone and they are getting great results.
If you are reading this article then there possibly is a good chance that you may have tried using the Facebook live function, however, you are not getting the results that you had hoped for, there a few reasons that this is not working out for you and your 2018 Social media strategy.
Before I delve into the 3 steps which will be stopping you being a success on Facebook, I need to reiterate that every post every action that we undertake online, in particular, social media, needs to have an objective. When using Facebook live the very first question that you need to ask is:
Q: What do I hope to achieve from this video? What is the main objective of creating this post?
A: Do you want to drive traffic to your opt-in list? drive traffic to your website, are you giving away a free pdf, do you want more likes on your page, etc etc.
Once you have a clear intention of what the objective is, your Facebook live strategies success is pending on
There are only 3 reasons that you are not seeing success with your Facebook live videos. In this article, I share with you what you may be experiencing.
-
Consistency
I absolutely love Gary Vee, he spoke about the first 12 months he recorded videos about his wine business online to YouTube and how in the first 12 months no one watched his videos, and yet he consistently created the content and uploaded to the platform. The difference between him and your success is consistency, we need to allocate a time and broadcast to your potential clients every week, or month. Whatever your show schedule is, talk to people as if they are with you online, welcome those that will pick up the video as a replay. Being consistent will show be the foundation of your live streaming success.
-
Selling
Yes, it may be true that you feel that you can only talk about your product and encourage others to purchase that from you. The focus needs to be on the benefits and features of that product, how will this make me feel. Just recently one of the ladies I coach did a live video on the handmade silk scarfs that she produces and she said: “This is my latest scarf if you would like to buy one for $25, comment below!” I made the comment “Hey Pamela, I really don’t wear scarfs as I am unsure what to do with them, maybe you can do a live demonstration for me? The next day Pamela went live with the demonstration and sold 3 of her scarves. Seek to educate your audience and not sell, we are bombarded daily with sales pitches on TV, Radio and all other online media including Facebook.

Fear
Yep, that’s the truth, you are not seeing any success from your videos because you may have a fear of being judged and therefore, haven’t stepped into the land of live streaming as yet. Now I totally get this, I have been producing content on my YouTube channel for years, but the moment I turned on my live broadcast to my Facebook friends, I froze, and I froze because suddenly I was putting myself out there, the real me in live time tv. All of sudden all those fears starting racing through my head, what will they think, what will they say, etc etc. Bringing up old patterns and beliefs that I am not good enough. So this is very normal. By putting the Facebook live stream onto private and broadcasting to yourself only, is a great way to boost your confidence and have a little bit of practice to ensure that you don’t freeze.
As business owners, we have an amazing amount of information about our line of work. We have the skillsets, the experience and we know in our hearts that we are the best business for our potential clients. With all that being said, using Facebook live allows us to educate and showcase our knowledge and skills. Building up our online profile as the go to person in our business and how much we care about our potential and existing clients.
It’s Show Time!!!
Time to Showcase who you are to your local or international market. Time to show that you are the go to person in your niche. No one else even comes close to what you do or how you do it.
Having a show has allowed me to do all of the above. Just today I went to a local networking event. I actually hadn’t been to this particular one for a few years. Nonetheless to say that the attendees were all different businesses that I had not met.
What I found amazing was, everyone that I met knew who I was. (Ok, I was wearing a name badge.) The point is they had been watching my show, watching my tips and they had labeled me the Social Media Guru. I was in amazement at the reach and the type of businesses that the show had reached. Added to my amazement was the personal branding that was attached to the show. You see I don’t see myself as a Guru. I see myself as a business owner that loves what she does and helping others. I see an opportunity to help others and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences.
This was the first time in over a year of using Live videos that I actually saw in a room of 50 people that more than 70% of them knew who I was and what I did. Again! where else can we get this type of leverage and for little or no cost?
So where to from here?
My suggestions if you decide to take them are
- Don’t underestimate the value that you have to offer the world.
- Don’t make the mistakes that I have listed above.
- Don’t make the mistakes that I have listed above.
- Do take the opportunity that we have today using Facebook Live streaming.
- Do make a list of everything that you know, your skills, your experiences.
- Do make a time and day each week to go live with your show.
- Do share this with your networks and family and friends.
- and…… Watch the Magic Happen!
I hope that you will look at creating a Facebook Live show, I hope that you may tag me so I can watch and engage in your show, I hope that if you don’t feel comfortable just yet, you reach out and request to be interviewed on my business show and I hope that you take action today.
Do you already have a Facebook Live show? Please drop a link to your show in the comments so that we can learn from it. Also, any additional advice above and beyond my own would help not just me but all of our readers who are looking to up their Facebook Live game. Thanks in advance! We are all in this social media game together and we can’t ignore the potential power of Facebook Live!
