5 Cool Tools to Archive Social Media Posts

by Tammy Kahn FennellTammy Kahn Fennell

5-Cool-Tools-for-Archiving-Social-Media-Posts-V1

Whether you’re actively posting or just browsing through your social streams, things move pretty fast.  A post is often there one minute and gone the next. With hundreds of millions of status updates and tweets sent every day, finding them later is next to impossible. Here are 5 tools to help you hang on to those updates through archiving social media posts you’d like to save.

MarketMeSuite:

For those of you who have been reading my column here for a while, you know that I’m always up front when I mention my own company, and then only when it makes sense and I know sharing it will bring readers value.  This is one of those times. When you’re going through your daily social activity you may not always be in “reply” mode.  MarketMeSuite allows you to bookmark stuff for later for a seamless workflow. You can flag any social post across your Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin Feeds to save it for later, and you can mark it as a lead if it’s actionable. Never again be a victim of “I’ll remember to deal with that later” only to forget and lose the opportunity altogether. With MarketMeSuite you can take control of your social workflow and make sure you never miss or lose an important conversation.

Twitter Mobile App:

On the go and see a great tweet? Don’t run the risk of losing it. The Twitter mobile app has a “mail tweet” function which will send the tweet in email form directly to you so you can remember it later.

IFFT

From saving the links you post on Facebook to Evernote to saving links to pins on a specific Pinterest board to Evernote to saving links in tweets to Google Sheets, IFTTT (If This, Then That) has you covered!

Pocket

Pocket let’s you save pretty much anything from the web into your virtual pocket (hence the name).  Think of it as Dropbox for content. It’s mostly for entire webpages (so you can save all your favorite Facebook Fan Pages by using the handy bookmark), but for Twitter, you can actually pocket individual Tweets. First, click on Details:

Then click the Pocket Icon to add it to your Pocket (you can enable the pocket plugin here):

Buffer and Kippt

Buffer, the popular social media scheduling service (whose API story I wrote about a few months ago),  teamed up wtih Toastworthy Social Apps of 2012 post) to automatically save your Facebook and Twitter posts at the same time that you share them.

Social Doesn’t Have To Be Fleeting

With so many important social media posts flying across the web every second, it’s easy to think of them as fleeting, here one second, gone the next. But there’s value in a lot of those interactions, and with the right tools, you can make sure that you never lose something you should have saved.  Do you know of any other great post-saving social apps? The tools listed are fine for an average user. However for professional use you want to ensure that any social media archive is verifiable. After all, if it comes down to a Court case or an audit you need to PROVE the archive is authentic.

I know this as I have been archiving web and social media content for over 500 government agencies, financial firms, multinationals and other organizations. For more information please visit PageFreezer.

    Thank you.
