There are a ton of tools available to help you improve your content marketing efforts. However, for those with a smaller budget, many of those tools can be priced far out of reach.
The good news is that there is also a whole range of free and affordable content marketing tools. For a great list of free tools, read my previous article, 25 Free Content Marketing Tools to Radically Boost Your Results. If you’re ready to pony up a few bucks (and I do mean only a few), read on to discover some great low-cost tools you can add to your arsenal.
Trust me when I say that they are worth the (small) investment.

Easily create personalized photos. This one took me about 30 seconds, from creation to sharing.
I’m quick to tout my skills as a writer and just as quick to let you know that I’m no artist. At the same time, my job requires that I create interesting graphics to spice up my content and social media posts. That’s why I depend on tools like Stencil to quickly put together neat graphics that are oh-so-sharable.
Stencil provides you with photos, icons, catchy quotes, and more. With a click or two, you can easily personalize pictures. You can then take your content marketing efforts to the next level as you share your fabulous graphics on your social media channels.
Stencil has a free version that you can use if you want to test it out. With it, you can make 10 images each month. However, you’ll have limited access to some of Stencil’s cooler features like its super handy template collection.
Not to worry! The paid version is only $9/month, so it’s quite a deal. With the paid version you get such features as:
- 50 images per month
- Ability to save up to 100 favorites
- Access to more than 970,000 photos, 200,000 icons, and 387 templates
- Font and logo uploads

Drive readers to share your content by providing quick, preset Tweets.
I love, love, love Click-to-Tweet. After all, a good content marketer wants her audience to help promote her content, and Click-to-Tweet makes it easy for you to encourage social sharing. You create a Tweet for your visitors. Then, with the click of a button, they can easily share the Tweet out to their audience.
This is how you do it:
- Write it. In the open field on the Click-to-Tweet site, compose a Tweet that you’d like your readers to share. It can consist of a quote from your article, an interesting statistic you’d like people to share, or even the name of and link to your article.
- Create it. Click the Generate New Link button.
- Copy it.
- Add it. Add the snippet of code to your blog post.
And that’s it! When the reader clicks on the Twitter bird or link, Twitter automatically opens up complete with the Tweet you created on the Click-to-Tweet site. Sharing becomes super easy.
Want to see a “real life” example? Check out how I used Click-to-Tweet in this article I recently published:
I like to use Click-to-Tweet to encourage readers to share interesting statistics and metrics.
You can create up to 10 links for free, but it’s only $49.70 per year for unlimited links and access to stats about how many people clicked on your Click-to-Tweet link.
Starting Price: $25/month
Don’t lose your readers! Bring them back to your website or offer.
The whole point of content marketing is to catch your audience’s attention and drive more visitors to your website. Sniply provides a clever way to achieve that goal. The solution allows you to add a custom call-to-action to any page on the web.
For instance, you might decide to curate some interesting content for your audience. Normally, once someone from your audience clicks on the link to the curated content, you’ve lost them.
With Sniply, you can attach a button to the page with the curated content. That button can link to your own website, so people can discover you while they read. Later, you can go to your Sniply dashboard to view analytics on how your button/link performed.
Here I shared an article I wrote for Forbes but still gave people a way to get back to my company’s website.
You can get 1,000 clicks per month for free on the Basic plan. However, if you’re planning on using this tool on a regular basis, you may want to consider paying the very affordable $25/month for up to 5,000 clicks per month, custom colors, 2 brand profiles, and more. In addition, with the more costly options, you get even more clicks and features.

Create engaging presentations with Prezi.
Content will not be shared if it’s not interesting. And let’s face it – your average PowerPoint is not interesting. It’s time to try something new.
That’s where Prezi comes in.
Prezi transforms boring presentations into engaging journeys. Moving through your presentation becomes as intriguing as watching a movie, as you zoom in and out of details to reveal new information.
Prezi offers interesting templates or you can develop your own look. Prezi also offers a variety of icons, symbols, color ranges and more so you can easily convey your story with a unique look and feel.
It’s a good idea to map out your story before you begin your Prezi.
You can offer your content as a presentation that viewers click through, a movie that is self-propelling, or a PDF. However you share it, you can be sure that your viewers will be captivated.
If you plan to keep all of your presentations public, you can use the free version. If you’d like to save any presentations for a more elite audience (for example, gate your presentations behind a form or only provide your presentation to a certain market), the basic paid version is a very affordable $7/month. There are also higher-priced plans that give you additional features, as well as Prezi Next, the company’s new “Prezi for Business” offering.
